About the Cheat Database
From AntiHax
Attempting to develop anti-cheat software without full knowledge of the workings of cheat applications is ignorant and doomed for failure since it would require a lot of assumptions about their workings with no proof or means to fully test that the software works.
It is well known that cheating in online and offline games has been and will continue to be an issue for game developers. The Cheat Database aims to provide a forum for cheat researchers and developers alike to share their work and discoveries.
It is also well known that anyone looking to cheat can easily find programs for their favorite game through public search engines, P2P and other mediums. These cheats pose the least threat to the gaming public because they are very quickly picked up by various anti-cheat teams. The majority of the cheats listed here fall under this category. It is the private cheats used personally by their developers and close friends that are the largest threat as they are much harder to detect without threatening the privacy of general gaming public.
As with any other field, it is important to understand the threats and how to deal with them. It is inefficient to combat the threats by masking the problem or through censorship because even then, the problem still exists.
It is therefore our policy that links and discussions about the intimate workings of cheats can be listed on this wiki.
